About 3 weeks after I moved here in September, one of my pillowcases ripped down the seam. At first it was a couple of inches, then a whole flap, then two flaps so that it was impossible to use. For about six months I have been meaning to mend this. I have had one pretty pillow with the white broderie anglaise case, and one plain one without on my bed. Today, I finally took the three minutes I needed to put white thread in the machine and resew the two seams. It is extraordinary how great is the sense of accomplishment that has followed this tiny task. I expect that if I had done it straight away I shouldn't even have noticed. Hmm.

Those are definitely the sort of jobs that need doing immediately. The longer you leave them the more of a trouble they seem to be. Congratulations on a job well done!

Amazing how long it can take, isn't it? It's as if the job grows, just lying there. I know, I have something similar waiting. Maybe I should find those duvet covers now, instead of waiting until I try to put them on again and remember they need to be repaired? Tanks for reminding me, I had of course forgotten all about them until now. :)

Yay for finishing a SLJ! (Shitty little job) I do the same thing with mending. It's not like it takes *that* long to wind a bobbin and thread the machine.

nah - nothing like leaving the easy jobs for ages :)

The Captain likes to sleep with his hand tucked into the pillow case and he is forever ripping the seams (which annoys me no end) but I just leave them all until there are almost none without rips and then sew them all at once. It is too much hassle (I spelt that Hassel the first time I typed it - too much Hoff *shudders*) with the little guy to get the machine out for such a small job.

I'm afraid that I am rather a procrastinator on some tasks. I decide that I could pack away the sheets that match the thick quilt yesterday. I hadn't remembered that one of the dark brown pillowcases had gone missing until I took that set from the linen cupboard. So I have brown sheets this week and dear Oatmeal has a brown pillowcase and I have a hunter green one. I wonder if one of the grandkids packed his or her dirty clothes in the missing pillowcase after a visit?

Good on ya' Ros.

Just out of curiosity, did you bring your pillow from home or are you using US pillows? Aren't English pillows those big lovely square ones?
