What I've been making lately

girlyswotThere's been a flurry of sewing activity here since Christmas. Partly because I've been on holiday and partly because I now have a dedicated sewing table in my dedicated sewing room.

I used most of it in the lining. Yum. *strokes lining* The outside of the bag is mainly from an old pair of jeans.
And this is the scrap that's left. Hmm, wonder what to make with that...
Baby quilt for some friends who had a little girl a couple of weeks ago. I also made another baby quilt recently but forgot to take pictures of that one, sorry. It had lots of bright, primary colours and fun animals - pink elephants and stripey tigers and smiling crocodiles.
Close up of the fabrics I used for this one. I just love the tiny pictures. You can't tell at all that the dogs got to the parcel of fabric first and played with it happily in the mud before it was rescued, washed and sewn. ;)
I'm also knitting a very complicated pair of socks that I keep having to undo. It has a criss-crossing cable pattern that I'm beginning to wonder whether it's worth the effort. On Friday night I finally succumbed to pleas for knitting lessons from the landlords' 9-yr-old son. I've never taught anyone to knit before and it was harder than I expect. Still, he was inordinately proud of the result and persuaded his parents to take him to buy needles and wool on Saturday!
