girlyswot: (gallery challenge)
[personal profile] girlyswot
I was inspired by this picture that [profile] gabrielladusult found and, since I wanted to take on the challenge of drawing people (which is my least favourite thing), it seemed a good thing to try and capture the spirit of the [profile] firemuses.  These are NOT intended to be recognisable portraits - though I know which one I want to be!  Any resemblance to actual people is purely luck not skill!!  But I did want us to look like we were having fun together and being a support to each other.  And, of course, we're wearing our little black robes.

So here's my picture. Pencil sketch, coloured in photoshop.

What do you think?

It's charming, and the black dresses definitely make it.

But their not being intended as recognizeable portraits takes the fun out of it. I kept trying to figure out who was supposed to be whom -- but then I realized that I don't know what some of you look like!

Well, they sort of are intended to be us, just not looking like us, if that makes sense. Maybe us as we are at moonette's parties!! I'd be intrigued to know who you think is whom!

Oh, me too. This is us in the wonderful online world where no one needs glasses and none of us (me) are several stone heavier than we ought to be and where we can hold hands and skip in the sunset without babies crying or essay deadlines.

If only...

I LOVE it! You have captured a wonderful spirit that I definitely feel in our group. That's SO great! Now I wish we were more active with the group lately. Maybe this will jump start us again.

But I also don't know who anyone is, except I somehow think Mary is the tallest one. And since I could never carry off a strapless gown, I'm going to hope the second from the left is Gabby. Plus I recently straightened my hair with that Japanese system, so I have really straight hair! I think I have the darkest hair of the group in real life, so I'm going to go with the far right, though my hair is not that layered. She has a good flangsty expression on her face, though, so it's probably me! :D You're holding Mary's hand? Or she's leading you to go see Charlie? I think Charlie would find your plunging neckline very sexy, if you're the middle one.

Lovely, Ros!

LOL! I'm glad you like it. I definitely had you down for the strapless gown - there's no need to be modest. Will thinks you can carry it off, no problem. And I'm the one on the far left that you have your arm around. I wanted us to be giggling together, but I'm so bad at faces and expressions, that I had to settle for anything that looked recognisably human. Of course, we all look sexy in our LBR's!!!

AND where I get to hook up with Moony on a regular basis.

And watch you fawn over Charlie.

*grins, grins*

I can see it now....

Hez wandered down the beach with her friends. Their time in this place was limited, but it had never seemed to matter. Not to them. When they were together, in this spot, time stood still. Their lives left behind were nothing more than a fleeting thought akin to a shooting star dancing across the sky enjoying the ability in being able to shine so bright even for a time that was so short. Yes, they had loved ones. Yes, they were loved. In another time, in another place they were wives, and girlfriends, and mothers, and sisters and daughters...but here, ah here, they were writers. And to them it was like air.

*sigh*

I rilly miss writing. Thanks for making me inspired...even for a just a moment or two.

That's so beautiful, Hez!! And just exactly right - we are writers and that's what brings us together and brings us so much joy.

Be inspired! Start writing again - even just a little bit?

The absolute funniest part of this is that the one you say is me actually looks (and I'm not exaggerating) EXACTLY how I've pictured Gabby for years. Until I saw her pic with Contessa recently.

Maybe this weekend I could sit down and do ... something. We'll see. I sure miss Moony something fierce.

:D

but yeah, that's how I picture all of us, too. Gorgeous on the inside AND out. ;)

I presume I'm not there because I'm slumped in a corner somewhere with a few empty bottles, toasting your writerly brilliance (and artisterly brilliance too). Lovely picture. (I've started your gift! I was going to work on the dress I have to make for a function next month but it was too hot to bother getting the sewng machine set up so I'm doing needlework instead.)

I could never carry off a strapless gown And why is that? No Dolly Parton-chest? That's a blessing, I'm forever grateful I'm not hit by that curse. I knew a girl who was, and she had real trouble... A properly made strapless gown has boning to keep it up, as well as being made to snuggle every curve. You could wear it even if you are flat as a board. So there. :p

Sweet. You do look like you're having a good time. And as I'm not one of the firemuses, I guess I''m playing my fiddle for you to dance. (On another plane, I'm definitely a fiddler!)

Ros! Yay! It's so lovely. What a wonderful idea first of all. I love the joined hands in the middle and how the v almost makes a heart. Then the grouping of the girls and the dresses. Amy really looks right! (She's the only one of us I've met) Love all the LBRs and how artfully windswept our hair is.

I'm glad to know moonette's hair is still straight. I wondered about that.

I've been thinking about you this week. You'll see why soon. *thud of an anvil*

Thanks, Mary. You always know just the right encouraging things to say. I didn't plan the V, but I liked when I found it almost made the heart shape.

Hooray for huge anvils that I hope mean what I think they do!!!

Black dresses and carefree attitudes...

While Amamama plays the fiddle and you dance under the moon, you can send all your children off to Grandma Kate's to bake cookies and watch Disney movies.

Wonderful pic! I'd settle for having the figures of any one of those gorgeous ladies, and being able to wear any of those Little Black Dresses ... *sigh*.

Think of me out in the kitchen, slaving away under Molly's eagle eye! Or if you like, imagine I've raced off with Sirius, who doesn't mind a slightly older 'woman with curves'. *winks*

I don't mind strapless, I've got the shoulders for it -- but the muse with the strapless dress has lighter, longer and curlier hair than I have ever sported (well, I did used to get home perms from my mom that made my hair that curly, but it's been almost 20 years since that happened). And the dress is way too short -- I've got sexy shoulders, but the legs of -- a very heavy-legged woman (I'm so original with my metaphors!). Anyway, if I could let down the hem a bit, that would be ok.

In my world of fandom, he lives! *pokes tongue* As do Fred, Remus and Tonks. Of course. And as Sirius had to be born in 1959 or 1960, there's not TOO much of an age difference ... besides, as a Capricon, I get better as I get older (like good red wine!)
