In the last couple of weeks I've enjoyed making lots of things.

First up was the doll quilt for the swap I signed up for here. My first thought on being challenged to make a mini quilt was to use big patterns. While I was in London I had a trip to Liberty and bought some fabulous fabric that just seemed to sing to me. Here are some of the details:

My swap partner asked for pink, green and orange. I was happy to oblige.

Front:

Back:

I think I like the back better! Oh, well.

Next up was this:

If you can tell me what it is, I'll tell you why I made it!

This is known in my mind as my Wimbledon skirt. The shape is vaguely reminiscent of a games skirt, and the colours are sort of Wimbledonny too, as is the pattern of dots. Plus, I made it while watching Henman win.

And this is my first experiment in the world of machine felting a knitted item.

Good. I think that's enough for now.

Well done to all the many people who identified the mystery object as some kind of hat. But to win the prize and have the full mystery disclosed I need a bit more than that. Would it help if I asked where you think such a hat might be worn?

Wow! These are all so lovely. *is quietly impressed*

It's a hat for a baby, is it not?

Thank you!

You're not quite right about the 'mystery item'. The scale may be too hard to tell on screen but it would be a bit too big for a baby.

If no one else bothers to guess it soon, I'll tell you. I'm bad at keeping secrets and this one is really fun.

*sigh* Fantastic fabric. Note to self: Need trip to London and Liberty before Christmas.

The quilt was wonderful, incredibly sweet. Gorgeous mix of patterns.

The hat looks like a 'nisselue' to me - something to put on the head of 'nisser', a kind of gnomes or goblins. But since you're asking, it can't be that obvious - a wicked tea cosy?

Lovely skirt and bad, too. I'm impressed - and slightly jealous. I'm soo looking forward to being abot to pull out my sewing machine again.

Mmm, I agree about the fabric. I hope that my quilt swap partner likes it too.

It's not a nisselue, nor a tea cosy. Dogstar was nearer with the baby hat suggestion.

What's stopping you sewing? For me it's usually the fact that my machine is 3500 miles away, hence making the most of being at home.

Stopping me sewing? I'm living in a remodeling project, so everything is packed up. Or down, as it is. If I try to find something in the storage (aka living room - one of them *grins*), I have to cross bags fo fabric and shift over boxes of supplies, so it's not far away. It's just not any room to sew. I don't have a table to sew at - yet. It's covered in boxes. In a month or two, though... I get all giddy with anticipation, just thinking of it.

Is it a hat for a pet? Perhaps a canine pet of some sort? Shame it isn't a hat for a baby; you should make some smaller ones - I would definitely buy a baby hat like that!!

Nope, not for a pet.

I *adore* Liberty fabric so it goes without saying that I love the mini quilt. I'm sure your swap partner will be thrilled! I also thought the knitted hat was for a baby but you say not, so, um... is it for a baby dragon? :P I'm utterly stumped otherwise.

You have been productive, Ros! Well done. :-)
