Baz Luhrmann turned down the Harry Potter films!!!!!!!!!!

I am ridiculously sad to learn this. He is my all-time absolute favourite film director ever. I loved Strictly Ballroom, I was entranced by Romeo + Juliet, and I thought Moulin Rouge was possibly the best film ever made. He is a genius.

I can quite see why he'd have hated working for Warner Bros, and I can't imagine he'd have stuck closely to canon. But, goodness me, he'd have made those films incredible. I am salivating at the visual treat that would have been Luhrmann set free in the magical world.

Oh well.

I'm looking forward to Australia.
