I love the Round Britain Quiz. Ridiculously complex cryptic questions with multiple parts that make you feel exceptionally clever even to get one bit. I love the occasional moments when I get things before the contestants. And I especially love those moments when the terribly highbrow contestants don't get the popular culture references. I remember one time when all of them disclaimed knowledge of Robbie Williams' song, 'Angels'. Today they claimed not to know of Ronald McDonald. Yeah, right.

They have today's questions listed on the website, plus a listener question 'just for fun'. I'd love to know if anyone can solve it without Googling.

Good attempt, though you've only got part of the answer. Fielding's runners were certainly not birds, and I don't think the white runners are intended as a reference to birds either.

Meh. I misunderstood - I thought they were all the same - i.e. different varieties. o that what they all had in commonwere that they were birds. I didn't google'em all to check...
