I forgot to take a 'before' picture, but there was nothing at all remarkable about this book shelf. Most of the lower shelves are double stacked and so I've hidden quite a lot of the plain white/black books behind. When I began, I was worried that there wouldn't be enough colour to make this work, but see how wrong I was! Every time I look at this now, it makes me happy.

There's cheerful. You can sing a rainbow.

Wow - that's stunning, and so cheerful! I want to try this ... but I also doubt I have enough in the right colors. Plus - would I have to mix my categories: fiction vs. non, etc?

Well, these are all fiction, but I suppose it depends how many books you have! I quite like having my books mixed up so that you can browse different things. I was surprised at how colourful my collection is when it's arranged like this.

That is very pleasing--and colorful! I like it. *grins*

I organize all of my books by type--so I'm not sure I could pull this off. Perhaps if I did mini-rainbows within each category? I'd have multiple mini-rainbows then--talk about mind-dizzying! LOL. My husband might kill me though--

'no, no dear, Niffenegger goes before Bray--forget the alphabet and look at the subtle differences in colors. Can't you see how they would line up?'

I like yours though, it's very cheerful--and I'm glad that it makes you happy every time you look at it because that's the most important thing! *grins*

Great book shelf! It seems quite obvious to me that you're deliriously happy to be back home. And that really is a cheerful collection of books.

I thought I had a book icon - this is the closest I got, lol.

Oh that is so cool! Much more interesting than my alphabetical order shelves.

You are mad, woman. Mad.

(but a really nice effect, I had to do a double take, "Is that a Photoshop job or...NO! It's for real!)

Now imagine if all libraries were organized like this...

It would be fabulous if libraries were arranged like this. I bet people are always going in asking for 'that blue book with the swirly writing... no, I can't remember who it's by...'
