Listening again to Excess Baggage which is about narrow-boating. The couple who do what you might call extreme narrow boating, keep their boat at Stone. Which is where I used to go narrow-boating with a friend's family when I was younger. This couple find the canals around that area a bit dull. Funny that. *g* Instead they prefer to do things like cross the Channel and even the Intra-Coastal Waterway to the Gulf of Mexico in their boat!

ETA They've just announced that tomorrow is Bletchley Park Reunion Day. I'm expecting to hear from the various members of [livejournal.com profile] stylishly_yours!

They sound hilarious. They're called Terry and Monica and are in their 70's and at least one of them is in poor health. But nothing seems to put them off once they've decided to do something. They are clearly spending their children's inheritance (don't know if they actually have children) in fine style.

I love narrowboating. It's so relaxing.

I heartily recommend Narrow Dog to Carcassonne, Terry Darlington's first book, and I'm sure I'll be getting the new one pretty soon.

If it's anything like they sounded on the radio, I'm sure I'll enjoy reading it. One for the summer holiday, perhaps.

Yup. I grew up just outside Stafford and went to primary school in Stone.

LOL. I was at St Dominics Priory in the late 70's/early 80's.
