In which my flist is No Help At All

50% of you thought 'Yes, of course Ros should get a paid LJ - think of the sparkly icons'. No one thought (or was rude enough to tick) that the lack of ads was sufficient reason for this. Presumably because those of you who really dislike the ads have your own paid account and so you don't see my ads.

The rest of you (and white_hart who couldn't make up her mind) thought 'No, Ros shouldn't waste her money' either because of your feeling about giving money to LJ or because of your concern for my student budget.

Guys, you were supposed to make the decision for me. Not leave me futher mired in my own indecision.

So, here's what I shall do. If you haven't voted, please do so. And if there's still no conclusion this time tomorrow, I'm flipping a coin. If you don't think such a momentous decision should be left down to the vagaries of chance, then there's only one thing to do - vote!

I selfishly want you to have a paid account because then I could see all the neat things you can do with LJ - like more icons, etc. . . Such an extravagance would be wasted on me because I have the most boring layout and don't even notice ads.

If you wanted me to make up my mind you shouldn't have had tickyboxes! Anyway, if I had only been able to select one I'd have said 'Go for it - think of the sparkly icons!'.

It was my first poll - I thought I had made it so you could only pick one. I think I'm leaning towards sparkly icons.

Oh I see - sorry for being confusing! If you want people to only be able to pick one option you need to go for 'radio buttons' when creating the poll - with tickyboxes one can tick all of them if so inclined!

If sparkly icons are your thing, and you want all the bells and whistles fun, go for it. If you don't need all the pretties to communicate with your friends on LJ, then save your money.

I wouldn't do it. I have a paid account and while it is absolutely wonderful to have so many icons, it's also annoying because there are so many. Order a book from Amazon instead! Books are happy and huggable! :D
