Pip Archer is fifteen years old.

And has a boyfriend.

(Even if he is in the Young Farmers.)

Unbelievable!

I was just thinking the same thing. I can remember listening to the omnibus the week she was born; it was the morning after I'd got together with my first boyfriend, in my first year at university. That can't be fifteen years ago...

LOL! Fifteen years ago I was in my second year at university and hadn't yet discovered the joys of The Archers.

I've been listening since I was about 10!

My farming family were always (and still are) quite dismissive of it, so we never listened at home. It was when I moved away and missed the country life that I started listening. Elizabeth was making a big fuss about her inheritance just around the time that my parents were rewriting their will and trying to be fair to me and my brother (who runs the farm). I don't always listen - Brian irritates me, and Ruth's not-affair really turned me off, but I like tuning in from time to time.

I regularly vow never to listen to it again (Ruth's not-affair was definitely the catalyst for one of those, as was Kathy being raped by Creepy OwenTaylor) but somehow it always creeps back in.

I quite liked the Kathy storyline, especially Kenton dealing with the aftermath.

I just found it all too horrible to listen to. Rather like the Friday Play, which is the only time I regularly turn Radio 4 off. I can take Serious Issues, but not Harrowing.

Yes, that's true. I almost had to turn off a few weeks ago when he was trying to persuade Jamie to let him in the house.

I regularly turn of Any Answers, Call You and Yours and Moneybox Live. I can't bear listening to R4 listeners. ;)

They do tend to be fairly dreadful. And I turn off the Moral Maze, especially if it has Melanie Phillips on, because otherwise I just end up shouting at the radio.

Mind you, I yelled 'Wanker!' rather loudly at Will Grundy this morning when he was offering poor Roy a 'fair rent' on Number 1 The Green. He really is growing up into an unpleasant person.

I always had a soft spot for Ed Grundy. Will can be so po-faced and self-righteous. Though Emma did treat him very badly.

She was born the week before we left for Australia so, yes, she's fifteen! I obviously have to listen to the the new episode. He might be in the Yong Farmers but the local boys who aren't are usually even worse!

Daniel is thirteen as he was born the week after Little Tyke. (Mum was very excited about that for some reason!).

I always imagine Daniel as about 7. He sounds so young and irritating.

Yes. Despite being thirteen, they don't seem to have dropped yet!

LOL! He must be very scrawny. Maybe he'll have a sudden growth spurt, aka, a new actor. But then, poor kid, he does have Shula for a mother and Alastair for a stepfather.

I don't think he is. There was a story about him being bullied at school because he was fat and wore glasses. There was a hint that in fact he was the bully and that was why he had no friends (including his cousins) and Shula was being Shula about it but the storyline was dropped completely.

Ah, yes, I'd forgotten that. I like that not even anyone on the programme likes him. Brat.

Could be because he's on steroids, of course ;-)

(Pip is 15!!! Last time I noticed, she was 11. ::feels old::)

Exactly. I'm still remembering all the kerfuffle over whether she should go to the choir school or not.

Maybe Daniel has an extraordinary soprano and Shula's had him castrated for the greater good?

Ah. Now. She's one of The Archers. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/archers/)

The family tree is here. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/archers/whos_who/family_tree/index.shtml)

And do you know what else it means? It is 14 years since Mark Hebdon died (around the time of Pip's birthday if I remember correctly) and later this week it is ten years since John Archer died, which sticks in my mind because of a related incident at university.

Not that I pay much attention to The Archers of anything. Oh no.
