girlyswotA nice man called Bill arrived at 10am this morning to fix my poor laptop. The hardest part of this task was removing the casing around the screen. Turns out the backlight wasn't broken, just disconnected. He thinks the connection was probably loose when I got the computer. And now that I think about it, there have been a couple of occasions where it's blacked out, but it's always been fine when I rebooted before. He put the new light in, since he had the part anyway and by 10.30 it was all done.
So now I can stop using old, heavy, hot, loud, unreliable laptop whose favorite thing is just to shut down at random intervals. Hooray!
In other news, I'm not feeling quite so painfully, miserably homesick as I was last week. I took two days off, slept a lot, did some fun shopping and crafts, went out with friends. Then I did some work on Saturday and had church things yesterday. I feel just about ready for life to start again.
