How to write a sitcom
May. 14th, 2008 10:37 amAmong my minor claims to fame is my longstanding friendship with James Cary, a comedy writer who has been responsible for a number of R4 shows (Think the Unthinkable, Concrete Cow, Hut 33). I remember the sheer delight of once hearing on the radio (in Concrete Cow) a sketch that I had first seen performed on a summer camp for teenagers by a bunch of hopeless amateurs.
Anyway, Jam has blogged here about some of the mechanics of writing a comedy script. I thought that some of the writers on my flist might be interested. The next series of Hut 33 begins on May 21st in the prized 6.30pm slot and it'll be on Listen Again on the BBC website for a week afterwards.
