So, my story's been up for a couple of days and, overexcited new author that I am, I am regularly checking for reviews.  *grin*  But here's my question to all of you wise, experienced Quill authors - is there a system for review notification there?  And how do you respond to reviews?  I think I'm probably being dim so I thought I'd ask here rather than on the forums.  Among friends!

Oh - and thanks to TDU and Kate for reviewing!

Uh. Yeah. No way to know if you have a review unless you check your author page. There's also no way to respond directly to a review - so you can do three things:

1. Send a PM This is actually possible now that every reviewer is registered. I did this for Roger and Lisa.
2. In a chaptered fic. you can mention your reviewers in the next chapter in an author's note. Obviously, that won't work with your one-shot.
3. In the review thread itself, you can leave an author's note - thanking and replying to all of your reviewers. I did that with Lee Jordan Tour Guide - but I didn't like it, since I wasn't sure if people went back and read my responses - and it made the review count go up artifically - which felt like cheating. LOL.

Of course, if you repond personally to reviews, you may never be able to throw the fan off. The next thing you know, they'll get an LJ and start calling you a megalomaniac!

Well, you notice I didn't PM you about yours! I have learned something from St M!!

So I needn't expect so much as a "thank you" if I review in future? Talk about gratitude!

What St. Mags said. I respond by PMs. *huge twinge of guilt for never responding to my last and very thoughtful review of my Bill story* And I used to check my author page obsessively.

I will make my way over there, I promise! I've had a tough week.

I'm sorry you had a tough week. I completely identify with the need to check obsessively. I sometimes find myself doing that at PS just in case the email system isn't working!
