My farming family were always (and still are) quite dismissive of it, so we never listened at home. It was when I moved away and missed the country life that I started listening. Elizabeth was making a big fuss about her inheritance just around the time that my parents were rewriting their will and trying to be fair to me and my brother (who runs the farm). I don't always listen - Brian irritates me, and Ruth's not-affair really turned me off, but I like tuning in from time to time.
I regularly vow never to listen to it again (Ruth's not-affair was definitely the catalyst for one of those, as was Kathy being raped by Creepy OwenTaylor) but somehow it always creeps back in.
I just found it all too horrible to listen to. Rather like the Friday Play, which is the only time I regularly turn Radio 4 off. I can take Serious Issues, but not Harrowing.
They do tend to be fairly dreadful. And I turn off the Moral Maze, especially if it has Melanie Phillips on, because otherwise I just end up shouting at the radio.
Mind you, I yelled 'Wanker!' rather loudly at Will Grundy this morning when he was offering poor Roy a 'fair rent' on Number 1 The Green. He really is growing up into an unpleasant person.

I regularly turn of Any Answers, Call You and Yours and Moneybox Live. I can't bear listening to R4 listeners. ;)
