rhetoretician, who I used to consider a friend (*grins*) gave me a prompt for a 100 word HP drabble.

The world was coming to an end.

That was the only rational explanation. Harry looked around him wildly for his wand, even while he knew it was useless. The screaming intensified and the thunder outside the room grew louder.

‘Harry!’ A hand caught his, gripping it tightly. ‘Harry, do something! Now!’

There was nothing to be done. The gods had been invoked months previously and he could only watch and wait while the fabric of the universe fell apart.

Then abruptly, everything shifted, reorganising itself into a new pattern. A new person. Not the end of the world.

The beginning.

I'm not sure that this really counts. Can you have Götterdämmerung-themed fluff?

Yes, I think. I don't really know a whole lot about Gotterdammerung but Ken seems to think it fits, so that's what counts.

I like it. You took the most ambitious road to the prompt, literally giving us the fall of Valhalla. Wow. I wouldn't have had the guts (I'd've copped out with Harry at the opera, or the end of the world for a colony of ants, or something like that). The atmospherics are great. And the cycle-change at the end, of course, is completely consistent with the theme.

As for the fluff part of it, it's only hinted at, which I like. But could you have Gotterdammerung-themed fluff? Sure.

Well, I did toy with the idea of Hermione making Ron sit through the Ring, but since I know nothing about opera and you know a lot, I didn't think I could pull that off. The ants never occurred to me!

And you're still my friend too. Only next time we play this game, I shall be much meaner with my prompts. *evil cackle*

After the prompt Ken gave you, you should be very mean in deed. You did really well and it was much shorter than Wagner. (My brother used to play Wagner at full volume throughout his teenage years, so he's one of the few composers I really can't listen to now. Strangely enough, my brother doesn't listen to him anymore either.)

Oh, cool! I was wondering how you'd compress the Ring into 100 words, and this is soo much better. Well done! And now you've got this off your chest, I'm eagerly waiting for a Regency update. *grins*

Well a good portion of the DH with Harry running around at Hogwarts, was a mini ring drama.

Hee. As TDU observes, this is considerably shorter than Wagner's version and also, I like to think, fluffier.

Also, it's a nice excuse to use this icon which I like but isn't often appropriate.

Love the circular logic of this from the end in the beginning and the beginning at the end. Renewal *is* fluffy
