The BBC are looking for 100 word summaries of the Harry Potter books so far (yes, that's right, 100 words for all 6 books), to get newcomers to the series up to speed before DH! Or something like that.

Truncating Everything

Here's what I gave 'em.

Harry Potter is the young wizard destined to kill or be killed by Voldemort, the psychopathic sorcerer who murdered his parents and now seeks absolute power. During his six years at Hogwarts School, Harry and his magical friends Ron and Hermione have defeated evil wizards, conquered monsters and escaped Voldemort and his Death Eaters many times. But now the vindictive Professor Snape has slain Harry’s protector, Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, and the trio must leave the school to complete their task. They must find and destroy the four remaining Horcruxes, objects containing fragments of Voldemort’s soul, before Harry faces him alone.

Talk about leaving stuff out! Didn't even mention Ginny, although I almost did.

After reading that, I don't think I'll even try. That was very, very brief. Maybe we could get Mary to write the definitive fluffy summary featuring Ginny prominently.
