There is a feature on Microsoft Word that will automatically "summarize" your document. Open any story of yours - Nano or otherwise - and have Word summarize it for you. Click on Tools / AutoSummarize, and then tell it to present your summary in ten sentences. Have the sentences open in a new document. Post the result in your own LJ, and spread the fun.

Most of my long stories have separate files for each chapter and I couldn't be bothered to mess around with copy and paste. This is from the first fic I posted on LJ and actually, I think it's a rather good summary:

Nicola wondered. thought Nicola. thought Nicola. Nicola wondered.
Nicola thought. Nicola thought. Nicola nodded. Nicola grinned.
Patrick! Nicola thought.

There are some brave, brave people out there.

67 people have offered to write Hamlet fic.

Perhaps even more impressive, there are 10 people who think they can write Umberto Eco's Name of the Rose fic.

And mind-bogglingly, 3 people think they can write Augustine's Confessions fic.

103 people have offered The Princess Bride, though only 5 have requested it. I wonder if they've read the book, because that style is not at all easy to pull off. Movie-fic might be slightly more manageable.

I am squeeing that two people have offered (and two requested) Posh Nosh fic, and I'm really hoping at least one gets written.

I think it's pretty funny that there are Mina de Malfois fic requests.

There are good numbers for Lost in Austen, so I'm hopeful there'll be some fic there.

The Antonia Forest numbers are pretty low, which is sad. I hope there will be at least one or two fics there, but it's possible there won't be. :(

Assignments out tomorrow!!
