Posting from the airport!
I left Cambridge at a ridiculously early hour this morning and am now at Birmingham International Airport waiting for my flight up to Inverness. I have never previously used this airport and thus was slightly taken aback by the appearance of the Air-Rail Link which is essentially a slow rollercoaster. Not good for those of us scared of heights!
In other news my paper was accepted for the conference! I am amazed and excited and planning a layover in Philadelphia on the way. Hooray!
ETA: I have just seen the list of the other people who will be presenting in the same section as me and I am now absolutely terrified. One of them is the person whose methodology I have used and adapted and thus I refer to him all through the paper. I don't even know how to pronounce his name. They are all Hebrew experts. I am not. I think this may have been a bad idea...

As for being terrified - why? You would not have been accepted if your work didn't hold it's own. And I bet the one whose methodology you use is tickled pink that you use it and refer to him. All the scientists I know (quite a few, as both my parents are scientists), love it when somebody else think their work is so good that they want to use it. It's incredibly flattering, so don't feel sorry that the one you flatter is there too - take it as an opportunity to ask him in person how he pronounces his name. He'll probably be impressed with your work, your possibly new way of using his methods - and having someone whose expertise is different (i.e. not Hebrew) will probably just be like a fresh breath. New blood. Invigorating. This is not a bad idea, this is a marvellous idea to get your work out there and get the acclaim you so richly deserve. You'll be fine.
