I just got up and checked BBC Sport to see who had won and saw it was still in progress. My first thought wasn't "Must put the TV on," but "What's wrong with the website? Why isn't it up to date?" The penny dropped and I switched on the TV to see Nadal bring up championship point and then win. I'm almost glad I didn't get to watch this one ans it would have been very nerve-racking (and I didn't even mind who won!). I can't believe Federer could bring himself back from a straight sets loss. I thought before the start of the fortnight Nadal would win but then Federer was playing so well that then I was thinking he would. On the whole I think they both deserved it but I'm quite glad Borg still has his (shared) record 'cos, you know, he won while I was a teenager and I can remember how we all drooled over him then!
Best since Ivan Goranesevich and I'm too tired to check the spelling of that. I've just written the same thing: pity anyone had to lose. Nadal was my man though...
That was espeically good ecause they played it on Monday and started early so I got to watch it instead of going to bed. The best I saw was Borg-Gerulitis semi. It was before tie-breakers and it went on and on and on and on. I had a school exam the next day so was suposed to be revising (this was before they'd moved the final to Sunday and still had it on Saturday with the women's on Friday). I liked all the Becker-Edberg ones too. I so wanted Edberg to win but always expected Becker to so I was always really on edge.
Although I'm sorry I didn't get to watch this one (other than the last two points) I'm very glad I didn't even try to stay up (unlike J. K. Ashavah who's just posted how tired she is!) because I hate being shattered all day.
OMG! I think that was THE best match I've ever ever ever watched. I was so rooting for Rafa; although, it was so awesome in every way. It was nailbiting wonderfulness.
Completely awesome tennis throughout!!! I got a little teary at the end when they were doing the walk about with their respective trophies and when Rafa went up and hugged his folks, etc. That were made of teh awesome.
It's times like these I wish I had a TV set. It would've bee fun to watch - but then I hadn't got what I did done, so I don't really mind. Except drooling over Nadal would've been nice. *g*
