I liked some bits of it but it was just a bit too much for me. By about a third of the way through I was actually hoping she'd finally write the inevitable rape scene and just get it out of the way so I could stop thinking "Not again!" I actually enjoyed the "modern" day bits more than the 18th century section. And of course the harvest in November had me screaming at the book. The crops would have rotted long before then, especially as it was before the calendar adjustment in 1752 (I think that was the year) so it would be euivalent to December now! It's funny how such a small detail can totally ruin a book for me! I suppose I do like my fiction a little less angsty. I definitely prefer something a bit funnier.
