Charlie proclaimed himself completely stuffed after demolishing most of dogstar101's delicious dinner.

'Time to go, then.' Girlyswot raised a finger to attract the attention of Winewaiter!Albus. 'Have you got the portkeys ready?'

'They have all been slipped into pockets as you directed earlier.'

'Excellent. Can you activate mine and Charlie's first and then everyone else in ten minutes? We just need a few minutes to...' Albus's eyebrows rose suggestively '...get everything ready. Honestly, what is it with everyone assuming that all Charlie and I do is make out?'

'If the uncomfortable Regency corset fits...'

'It doesn't,' she told him firmly, rearranging her bosom just to make Gay!Albus feel uncomfortable in return.

He averted his gaze. 'Very well. We will join you in a few minutes.'

Girlyswot landed smoothly, safe in the circle of Charlie's strong, canon arms. She allowed herself a moment just to revel in his comforting presence.



'Here we are, then. Beaufort Castle, home of Clan Fraser. Did you get everything sorted out?'

'Think so. The pipe band are over there, and the Highland dancers are waiting inside to give us a display of sword dancing. There's a range of single malts for TDU to sample and plenty of black pudding ready to fry up for breakfast. I've checked all the charms - all the men will find themselves wearing clan tartan kilts, and the women will have plaids to put over their shoulder. Oh, and everyone will find that any injuries sustained so far will be healed, leaving only the scars.'

Girlyswot looked down. Charlie was indeed wearing a bright red and yellow checked kilt with matching socks that showed off his spectacular calves. She had a matching plaid over her Regency dress. She couldn't wait to start reeling.

I'm brain dead. I've tried several times to come up with something, but I keep drawing a blank. It's awfully frustrating, as I want to join in making this a fun and crazy birthday adventure for Mary, but I can't help it. Not even reading through this and sniggering make me get ideas of what happens next. It's really weird. SO I guess I'll just sit back and send my blessings to the party. Maybe I should start Albannach, that might give me some inspiration. Or at least some cool music. >sigh

Yes, but you're missing the crucial point. He only snogged you because you threw yourself at him. Moonette, on the other hand, was cold-bloodedly calculating in her little dalliances with Byron and Napier - she likes to cause trouble and she she likes Will to get all macho in dealing with it her.

I would feel offended it it wasn't so patently false. If you want to know, Will confessed while we were off screen that he'd harbored a secret attraction to me for a long time. That's why he was so willing to jilt Moonette and ask me out. (as in outside). :-)

Gabby bit her lip. "I'm worried about Elizabeth. Nobody seems to care about her, just because she's St. Margaret's escape clause."

"That Doctor fellow seemed to think she was happy where she was." Richard reminded her.

Gabby rolled her eyes. "Are you kidding me? I don't put any stock in what that bloke says. His universe has nothing to do with ours when you come right down to it."

She sighed. "I wish Mary would come. She has more power than I do to correct this. I couldn't even rally a rescue party."

Richard tilted his head. "I suppose we could figure out a way to go on our own...but remember how harsh TDU and CHK said the environment was."

Gabriella rolled her eyes. "Right -- you think because I'm a stay-at-home Mum that I'm soft. I eat bonbons and watch soap operas all day and have no survival skills to speak of..."

"I didn't say that..."

"And it's not as if, had we gone, we wouldn't have had a truckload of the most capable wizards we know to ease the suffering!" She stomped her foot out of time with the dance.

"Do that one more time and you'll start to look petulant." Richard warned her. "Anyway, you're preaching to the choir. I'll do whatever you decide."

Gabriella considered. "Well, let's plan a little contingency...but really I want to see what Mary will do before I jump in again..."
